We are celebrating the 10th SOLAS Summer School, with an expanded immersive three-weeks programme for early career researchers. The SOLAS international research network is built on interdisciplinary synergy and a deep commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists. Building on a legacy of training over 600 early career scientists since 2003, the SOLAS Summer School provides a unique opportunity to learn from world-leading experts in ocean-atmosphere sciences. Participants will explore the complex interactions between the ocean, atmosphere, and climate through a dynamic blend of lectures, hands-on practicals, collaborative student-led projects, all aligned with the "SOLAS Science Towards Solutions" SOLAS 3.0 framework.
Objectives
The SOLAS Summer School aims to provide a holistic understanding of ocean-atmosphere sciences, equipping participants with the transdisciplinary skills needed to address pressing climate and environmental challenges. Our goal is to empower you to translate fundamental knowledge into solutions across the science-policy nexus and thrive in a collaborative, international and diverse research environment.
Participants
The SOLAS Summer School is open to an international cohort of about 60 early career researchers. We are committed to assembling a truly diverse and inclusive cohort, welcoming participants from various geographic regions, backgrounds, abilities and identities.
The programme is primarily designed for PhD students and early-stage postdoctoral researchers, but open for applicants with different career paths. Student backgrounds will represent the full breadth of SOLAS sciences, from fundamental ocean-atmosphere research to applied solution oriented research with direct societal relevance.
