Issue 33: SOLAS Summer School 2023

Issue 33 reports on the 9th SOLAS Summer School, which took place from 5-16 June 2023, in Mindelo, Cabo Verde.

The summer school brought together 66 young researchers from 25 countries at the Ocean Science Center Mindelo (OSCM) in Cabo Verde. The participants expanded their knowledge in the fundamentals of ocean and atmosphere sciences and trained practical methods of experimentation, remote sensing, modelling and science communication. It was the first time that the SOLAS summer school took place in an African country, highlighting the importance of marine research, exchange and capacity building in the region.
